Meet the Stylists

Charlene Ferry Salon Indah

Charlene Ferry

I started working for John McGee at Top Drawer Salon in 1989, when he retired in 2000 I had the opportunity to purchase his salon.
For the next several years I revamped the look to create a bohemian, eclectic vibe where anyone would feel welcome and comfortable.  I have since changed the name to Salon Indah to make it my own.

I enjoy the creative challenges and value the diversity that each client’s bring to my salon.  In this ever changing industry there are always opportunities to grow and refine my skills.  I trained at Abba Academy for hair cutting and am certified with Organic Salon Services and Brazilian Blowout.  I stay current with trends by continually taking classes for cuts, color, style and products.  I believe in preventive health and natural products which is why I have incorporated them in my salon for the wellbeing of our environment, stylists and clients.

I have a passion for animals, nature, organic gardening and paddle boarding making Belmont Shore the ideal location to work. I love all music, but most of all roots and blues.  I visit New Orleans and Austin whenever possible for my music fix. My personal interest and hobbies are reflected in the salon to create a unique styling experience for both my employees and customers.

I believe in keeping hair healthy; I love to help clients grow their hair longer especially when they say “it just doesn’t grow past my shoulders”.

I started my hair journey in 1987 and quickly fell in love with making people feel beautiful about themselves, inside and out. I soon became an assistant at the elite San Francisco salon, 77 Maiden Lane.

I went on to work in several different states, furthering my knowledge and expertise by becoming a Redken Master Specialist, taking workshops with famed colorist Beth Minardi, and getting certified in Brazilian Blowouts and Keratin Hair Extensions. I was part of Redken Symposium in New York and Las Vegas, and Sebastian Global Exchange in Puerto Rico.

In 2000, I relocated to Long Beach, with its unique vibe and diverse communities, and worked at Anthony’s Studio 7. I’ve always loved the charm of Belmont Shore, so in 2013, I walked into Studio Indah and felt welcomed immediately, with an offer of tea and conversation. I Ioved its relaxed and nurturing feel, and knew my clients would to. I’ve been here, working with this wonderful team, ever since.

I’ve mastered all kinds of services— styling curly and textured hair, color correction, perms, hair extensions, formal up-dos, barber cuts and Brazilian Blowouts.

When I’m not at work. my husband and I are busy renovating our new home, and I homeschool our two children and chase after our two cats and dog. In my downtime, I enjoy belly dancing, gardening, and a good book or movie, when the kids let me.
